December 2011 Alliance member update

Dear fellow Alliance members,

The momentum continues ...

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) Task Force met in Rosemont to review the nominations and select winners for the 2011-2012 MVP awards program. The task force members felt the nominees submitted were a quality group. The actual number of winners selected was five—several nominees were selected as winners in multiple categories. All winners have been notified so they can make arrangements to attend NRCA's 125th Annual Convention in Orlando, Fla., where they will be recognized. The finalists and remainder of nominees will be notified by the first of the year.

Congratulations to Charlie Hambrick, sr. branch manager with Centimark Corporation, Houston, winner of the iPad 2 16 GB with Wi-Fi and to Ubaldo Parada, King of Texas Roofing Company, L.P., Grand Prairie, Texas, winner of the $100 American Express gift card. Both drawings took place Dec. 1, 2011, in the Alliance office in Rosemont, Ill.

The Alliance Communications-Marketing and Project Committee had a productive meeting Dec. 15 in Rosemont. The committee's priority was reviewing a draft of an Alliance promotional brochure prepared by OMG Roofing Products' marketing department. The committee's input will be incorporated and Alliance member testimonials* will be added. The brochure will be available for the 2012 IRE in Orlando for distribution at the Alliance booth. Next steps for the committee include reviewing the Alliance website.

*All Alliance members were contacted and asked to submit a testimonial about the benefits of being an Alliance member. Several members responded, but we're still looking for more. Some of the testimonials will be used in the promotional brochure, others will be used for a special testimonial section that will be created on the Alliance website in the near future.

The 2012-2013 Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship program deadline is Jan. 31, 2012. Click here for details and an application form.

We'd like to conclude this month's newsletter by sharing an update received from Bobby, Joanie and Robby Koder. The Koder family was a recipient of Alliance funds through the Helping Our Own Program.

"The Alliance's Helping Our Own Program has had a significant impact on our lives. As the holidays and the New Year approaches, we have so much to be thankful for as we reflect on the past several years.

The Helping Our Own Program gave us an incredible gift. The program allowed my family to focus on each other and the emotional and physical obstacles Joanie and Robby's health presented. We were able to focus on these obstacles without having the additional stress of financial struggles. The loss of income and medical expenses were manageable due to the incredible generosity from the Alliance and the Helping Our Own Program. Joanie and Robby's doctors and nurses will attest that the support our family was able to provide to them was instrumental in their recovery. We would not have been able to provide this support to them without the support of the Alliance.

Joanie is a great mother to our son Robby. She has a lot of hobbies, including sewing, arts and crafts, scrap booking, home improvement projects, etc. Robby just finished his first T-ball season where I was the coach and Joanie was the team mom. Robby has also recently started school. It is so much fun watching our son grow up. We are very excited for Christmas and to start a new year. Our family is doing great and we cherish each day.

We are so grateful to be able to send the Alliance this update. The Helping Our Own Program is amazing and has truly touched our lives. Thanks again for all your support and the enormous impact you have had on our lives."

We want to thank all Alliance members for their support. And a special thanks goes out to all committee members who have volunteered their time and effort to help us keep the momentum going.
