How to contribute

The Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program was created as a permanent endowment program that will provide significant scholarships to individuals coming from the roofing industry or indicating a strong desire to become part of it.

The scholarship awards support attendance at accredited university or vocational programs. Eligible recipients may either be employees of NRCA member companies (contractors and suppliers); immediate family members of employees of NRCA member companies or students indicating a strong interest in entering the roofing industry.

The program recognizes one of the industry’s greatest leaders, Melvin Kruger, of L.E. Schwartz & Son, Inc., Macon, Ga. Melvin is a former president of the National Roofing Contractors Association, served as a member of the Georgia Education Commission and was a driving force in the creation of the Roofing Industry Educational Institute established in 1979. He also was the principal fundraiser at the time the Alliance was established.

The goal of the program is to secure pledges to the new program so that commitments will total $2 million. To date, the fund stands at $1.6 million.
