OMG auction raised money for Alliance funds
At the 2011 International Roofing Expo® in February, OMG Roofing Products, Agawam, Mass., held a silent auction for a tricked-out PaceCart2 at its booth. Proceeds from the event will support two charities that give back to the roofing industry: The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress’ Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program and Disaster Relief Fund, managed by NRCA's Community Service and Disaster Relief Committee. The auction was part of OMG Roofing Products' overall trade show theme of "Going Retro," which focused on its broad line of products suited for retrofit roof applications.
The special tricked-out PaceCart2 is painted black with orange and yellow flames on each side and includes a chrome motor, as well as stainless-steel hose wraps. In addition, the fully functional cart includes several new features, such as a built-in toolbox and quick release wheels to allow for easy access to the motor. The PaceCart2 is the exclusive application tool for applying OlyBond500 and OlyBond500 Green Insulation Adhesives.
"The 'Go Retro' theme was a fun tie-in to our products and their applications," says Sam Everett, director of marketing for OMG Roofing Products. "However, we wanted to create an opportunity to give back to our industry in a fun and memorable way. We also want to sincerely thank all the auction participants, as well as those who supported our PipeGuard promotion."
Bidding for the cart started at $2,500, and the winning bid went to CentiMark Corp., Canonsburg, Pa., for $6,000. In addition to the $6,000 for the PaceCart, OMG Roofing Products also sold boxes of its PipeGuard for $5 each to raise funds for its causes. A check for $6,200 was presented to the Alliance and NRCA at the Alliance Meeting April 14-16 in Sarasota, Fla.
